Dinâmica do chumbo no lago do parque Ingá, Maringá, PR, Brasil BABT

Effects of the application of sewage sludge and fowl manure on soils of Paraná state in maize plants (Zea mays L.) as a macro-nutrients source BABT
Gobbi,Marlene A.; Pigozzo,Ana T. Jordão; Lenzi,Ervim; Luchese,Eduardo B..
The potential of two organic residues as sources of macro-nutrients in three types of soils of the third plateau of Paraná state was studied. Treatment consisted of a dose (38 t.ha-1) of fowl manure and sewage sludge neutralized by a 3:1 (CaO+MgO) mixture. Fowl manure was kept in natura. Maize (Zea mays L.)was reference plant. After 30 days of seeding, the aerial parts of the plants were cut. They were dried at 70 0C till constant weight was obtained, then weighted and ground. Analyses were undertaken after nitric-perchloric digestion of the samples. Macro-nutrient levels in soils and in plants were determined by atomic absorption spectrometry, flame technique. Results showed that production of dry matter was higher when fowl manure was used. Levels of...

Effects of the application of sewage sludge and petrochemical residue in maize culture as source of micro-nutrients on soils of Paraná state BABT
Pigozzo,Ana T. Jordão; Gobbi,Marlene A.; Lenzi,Ervim; Luchese,Eduardo B..
An evaluation of the potential of two organic residues as source of micro-nutrients in three soils of Paraná state was studied. Treatments consisted of one dose (38 t.ha-1) of sewage sludge and residue of purified used motor oil both neutralized with CaO+MgO mixture in 3:1 rate. Maize (Zea mays L.) was used as reference plant. After 30 days of seeding, the aerial parts of the plants were cut. They were dried at 70ºC till constant weight and ground. Analysis was undertaken after nitric-perchloric digestion. Micro-nutrients levels in the soils and in the aerial parts of the plants were determined by atomic absorption spectrometry. The results showed a production of the aerial parts of the plants treated with sewage sludge higher than those in other...

Lead behavior in soil treated with contaminated sewage sludge and cultivated with maize BABT
Barriquelo,Marcilene Ferrari; Juliatti,Marinês Aparecida; Silva,Margarete Soares da; Lenzi,Ervim.
Lead (Pb) behavior was studied in soil treated twice with sewage sludge contaminated with lead at interval of 18 months. Soil samples received five different treatments: three with lead [0 (reference); 2,500; 5,000 mug g-1] and two with a mixture of lead and cadmium (interferer) (2,500 + 2,500 and 5,000 + 5,000 mug g-1, respectively). Vases containing treated soil were cultivated with maize in a greenhouse for 75 days. Pb was extracted using nitric perchloric digestion and analyzed by atomic absorption spectroscopy. The soil, containing sewage sludge contaminated by lead presented a higher concentration of Pb. The metal concentration remained constant in all treatments at 20-60 cm depth. No absorption of Pb by the plants was detected.

Loss of macronutrients (N, P, K) in the hydrographic basin of the River Ivaí, an affluent of the River Paraná BABT
Guiraud,Deborah Maria Corrêa; Lenzi,Ervim; Luchese,Eduardo Bernardi; Fávero,Luzia Otília Bortotti.
Influence of some environmental variables in the loss of macronutrients N, P, K, from the hydrographic basin of the River Ivaí were analysed. Water samples of the river were monthly collected for five consecutive days during a year. In terms of total intervals of average monthly values and total average values experiment results, in mg L-1, were: N (0.32-3.22 and 1.65); K (0.73-2.69 and 1.38); P (not detected-0.39 and 0.076); COD (0.21-36.0 and 12.8); O2(dis) (1.89-8.40 and 5.43); and temperature (&#186C) (16.0-30.8 and 24.6); pH (5.18-8.50 and 7.15). Statistical analysis of data showed that quantity of macronutrient (N, K, P) carried off from the hydrographic basin of the River Ivaí were directly correlated to fluviometric levels (caused by rainfall...

Phosphorus collectors from filter paper and synthetic cloth coated with iron or aluminium oxide to provide phosphorus by diffusion in soils BABT
Luchese,Eduardo Bernardi; Lenzi,Ervim; Favero,Luzia Otília Bortotti; Loubak,Luceide Heloisa.
Phosphorus collectors made from filter paper and synthetic cloth, were tested to evaluate their feasibility of determining the need for phosphate application. The collectors were coated with two types of oxides, iron oxide and aluminium oxide. The capacity of the collectors was tested by placing them in a 2 mL of solution containing phosphorus (PO4(3-)) in the concentration of 0.0, 1.00, 3.00, 5.00, 7.00, 9.00 and 11.00 µ g.mL-1, respectively, after which they were placed in contact with four types of soil (LBa, LRd, LEd and Ca) and incubed for 0.0 and 24 h. In this test the soils were kept at a humidity equivalent to 150 mmHg suction. The amount of phosphorus extracted from the solutions was tested at intervals between 0,0 and 11.0 µ g of phosphorus/mL....

Transition metal rates in latosol twice treated with sewage sludge BABT
Pigozzo,Ana Tereza Jordão; Lenzi,Ervim; Luca Junior,Jorge de; Scapim,Carlos Alberto; Costa,Antonio Carlos Saraiva da.
Agricultural recycling of sewage sludge has been a source of accumulation of heavy metals in the environment which may reach toxic levels and cause serious damage to the biota. Field experiments were undertaken for two agricultural years (2000 and 2002) and effects of two sewage sludge applications were evaluated through the extraction of (essential and non-essential) transition metals by diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA) extractor in a medium texture dystrophic Dark Red Latosol. Cd, Ni, Co, Pb and Cr were not detected. Application of sewage sludge initially caused a slight pH rise in the soil; later pH lowered and kept itself close to the starting level. It could be concluded that through consecutive sludge application, extractable rates of Fe and...
